We admit it: our Hendersonville, NC Boyd Chevrolet CADILLAC Buick team consists of people who used to fumble with their iPhones during morning commutes. Needless to say, this practice is dangerous. Fortunately, Apple CarPlay eliminates the need for us to even look at, much less touch, our iPhone while we're behind the wheel. How? Here's the scoop.
Apple CarPlay is a standard built into your iPhone. It's been standard since 2014. Recently, newer cars have this standard built-in as well. With the press of a button, Apple CarPlay integrates your iPhone into the infotainment system in your car. The infotainment touchscreen becomes a replica of your iPhone home screen, with access to all of your phone's media, communications, and entertainment. How exciting!
How to Set Up Apple CarPlaySince your iPhone and your car already have the technology, setting up Apple CarPlay takes less than five minutes. If your vehicle is equipped, just press the voice command button. It's located on or very near your steering wheel. Then find the Apple CarPlay setup menu on your iPhone via Settings.
